Biografia de Phil Collins

Philip David Charles Collins, mais conhecido como Phil Collins, nasceu em Londres , no dia 30 de Janeiro de 1951. Foi baterista e vocalista da banda Genesis, mas também atingiu êxito na carreira a solo. Também actuou em alguns filmes e programas de televisão.

Phil Collins colaborou com vários artistas conhecidos, como George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Roland Orzabal, Robert Plant, Ringo Starr,John Lennon, etc. Fez uma participação especial em Woman in Chains, do Tears for Fears, e também participou no album Break Every Rule de Tina Turner.

Após ter deixado o Genesis em 1975, Collins passou a ser vocalista sendo que este foi o período de maior sucesso comercial da banda, que continuou nos anos 80. Enquanto trabalhava tanto como vocalista como baterista, dava os primeiros passos de uma bem-sucedida carreira a solo.

O seu primeiro disco solo foi Face Value, em 1981. Este e os discos que se seguiram foram grandes sucessos de vendas e muitas músicas estiveram entre as mais ouvidas. Esta época marcou o auge da carreira de Collins, ao longo dos anos 80.

Apesar da enorme popularidade, as vendas dos discos de Collins começaram a diminuir nos anos 90. Em 2003, Phill anunciou que iria terminar sua carreira a solo, fazendo uma digressão de despedida. Em 2006, juntamente com Mike Rutherford e Tony Banks, anunciou uma nova digressão da banda Genesis.

Em 23 de Maio de 2008, Phil Collins anunciou o fim da sua carreira devido a problemas nas cordas vocais.

Após uma cirurgia a uma das vértebras, Phill perdeu a sensibilidade nos dedos, ficando impedido de tocar bateria. Por esta razão, em 19 de Outubro de 2009, Phill anunciou que iria parar de tocar bateria. Ainda assim, mostrou vontade em lançar mais um álbum entre 2010 e 2011.
